The second annual Whistling Duck Music Gala weekend is fast approaching! Friends and family are welcome to join in the celebration over two evenings in November. Here’s what’s in store:
Friday, November 15 – 7:30 pm start.
Take your instrument and your questions to St. Michael’s Anglican Church Hall, where you have a choice of two workshops. In one, Sue Chick Denton will help you work through how to end all those songs that just fade out, as well as how a general understanding of what key you’re playing in will inform those graceful endings. In the other, Sean Isaac will teach an introduction to lead playing, starting with the most basic building blocks and growing from there.
NOTE – these workshops will be happening simultaneously.
If you desperately want to do them both, choose the lead playing one. It’s easier to schedule Sue to hold another workshop than to bring in a guest!
Saturday, November 16 – doors at 7:00, music at 7:30
Celebrate some of the greatest moments from the last twelve months as eight musical acts return to share their most memorable offerings. This concert will see a range of experiences shine in the spotlight at ArtsPlace as we honour the spirit that makes our community what it is. If you were at the Gala Concert in 2018, you’ll know this is an evening where magic happens and memories are made. It is highly encouraged to dig out those nice dresses or fancy shoes you wish you had more occasions to wear.
Concert line up will be announced shortly.
Individual tickets for the JamFactory and the Gala Concert are $25 each – attend BOTH for $40
Whistling Duck Music Jam-along Book VOL. II
Yes – the time has come! We are thrilled to announce the launch of Volume II of “The Blue Book”. This starter pack comes with a multitude of new jam-songs, and members will continue to receive expansion packs twice a year (included in membership) to add to this new volume. One binder can no longer contain all the goodness coming your way. Purchasing the starter kit here and now in advance saves you $5. At the Gala itself and afterwards, Volume II starter will go for $15 – order it now with your ticket purchase and you pay only $10.
Want to be a part of it all and/or get Volume II but don’t want to do it by PayPal? No problem. Cash, cheque and e-transfer are all options – just contact Sue and we’ll sort it out.
